Meaning of Bhakti

Bhakti means spiritual devotion, love or affection. It can be about a human relationship, for example between the loved one and the one who loves or a teacher (guru) and his student. But it can also be about a non-human relationship with God, the Universe or spirituality without form. One of the ways to come to yoga (unity) or mukti (liberation) is by practicing Bhakti yoga. This form of yoga is not (only) about being devoted to God, but is mainly about knowing God, being part of the Universe and experiencing the Divine within yourself.
